Construction of Carmody’s Hill 
Wind Farm commences

Aula Energy has commenced construction of the Carmody's Hill Wind Farm, marked by an official sod turning ceremony at the project site near Georgetown. The milestone was celebrated alongside the Nukunu People, the Traditional Owners of the land, as well as local landholders, community representatives, elected officials and delivery partners.

The Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm will generate up to 256.2 megawatts of clean energy, enough energy to power more than 195,000 South Australian homes. The project is expected to support up to 200 jobs and engage local contractors during the construction phase, as well as ongoing local jobs once operational.

Chad Hymas, CEO of Aula Energy said, “Today’s ceremony marks an exciting step forward for Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm as construction gets underway.

“Together with our delivery partners, we are proud to construct this project that will contribute to South Australia’s clean energy mix, support local employment opportunities, and deliver long-term benefits to the region.

“Throughout each phase of the project we have worked closely with local landholders, Traditional Owners, community members and the local government to ensure their feedback has helped shape the project’s development.

"We were honoured to begin today's event with a Welcome to Country led by the Nukunu People and thank them for their ongoing partnership and contribution to the project.

“We look forward to continuing our local partnerships and supporting local initiatives through our community benefit fund in a way that reflects community priorities and creates lasting value for the region.”

Construction will take approximately two years, and the Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm is expected to be operational in late 2028. When completed, the project will consist of 42 wind turbines and supporting infrastructure, including underground medium-voltage cabling, operations and maintenance facilities, a project substation, and 12.8km of 275 kilovolt (kV) transmission line connecting into the existing network, the Davenport to Brinkworth 275kV line.
